My name is Jon Harald Søby, and I am a Community Fellow working as a contractor for the Wikimedia Foundation. I live in Trondheim, Norway, where I study linguistics.
I have been a Wikimedian since February 2005, working mainly on the Norwegian (Bokmål) Wikipedia, where I have been an administrator since April 2005. I have also contributed, and continue to do so, in many other facets of the Wikimedia movement: currently I run a global bot, help translate the MediaWiki interface into Norwegian on Translatewiki, and serve as an administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser and oversighter on the Norwegian (Bokmål) Wikipedia, help answering e-mail inquiries on OTRS and do miscellaneous other tasks where needed.
In the past I have also been a steward, been part of the Wikimedia Foundation's board election committee a number of times, served on the board of Wikimedia Norge, on the election committee of Wikimedia Sverige. I have attended all Wikimanias since 2007, and have attended numerous other wikimeets around the world (though mostly confined to Scandinavia of course).
I started to work in the Wikimedia Foundation in July 2011, as a Fundraiser Production Coordinator, and as such helped set up banners, landing pages and CentralNotice campaigns for the 2011 Fundraiser, but had a special focus on coordinating the translations of the fundraiser and simplifying the translation process. I am currently expanding on that work, to streamline the translation process on Meta to make it easy to use both for translators and for those requesting translations.
